Swansea City have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out Tom Carroll leaving White Hart Lane in January, as per his comments to Football.London.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Carroll is on the verge of leaving Tottenham to join Swansea City in an £8 million deal.

And while Pochettino would not go as far as confirming the rumours, he admitted that it Carroll is not in his plans currently.

“There’s a lot of rumours. Maybe Tom is not playing and not too much involved with team,” Pochettino said. “We’ll see what happens but today it’s only rumours.”

Carroll has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs this season, due to the arrival of Victor Wanyama and the emergence of Harry Winks.

There were hopes that the 24-year-old would develop into a first-team regular at Spurs during his younger years, but he now looks unlikely to break back into Pochettino’s team.

Carroll has not been seen in a Spurs shirt since October, and he has only made three appearances all season.

If the central-midfielder does move to Swansea, it will be his second stint at the Liberty Stadium, as he spent the 2014/15 campaign on loan at the Welsh club.
