Mauricio Pochettino comments on Paulo Gazzaniga display

Tottenham Hotspur won against Crystal Palace at Wembley in the Premier League on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that Paulo Gazzaniga was fantastic against Crystal Palace.

Gazzaniga featured for Tottenham in the Premier League game against Palace at the Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday afternoon.

It was the 25-year-old goalkeeper’s debut for Spurs, having joined the North London outfit in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League rivals Southampton.

With Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm injured, the Argentine started against London rivals Palace and gave a good account of himself.

Gazzaniga was arguably the best player on the pitch, and Spurs manager Pochettino has spoken highly of him, summing up his performance in one word – “fantastic”.

“I think it was fantastic,” Pochettino told Football.London when asked about Gazzaniga’s performance.

“His debut at Wembley and I think he deserved a lot of praise. He was very calm. He made a few amazing saves. For me he was fantastic.”

Gazzaniga is the third-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham at the moment, but the 25-year-old’s performance against Palace at Wembley on Sunday shows that he is good enough to play in emergency situations.

While it is hard to envisage the 25-year-old challenging for a spot in the Spurs starting lineup, he could push Vorm for the number two role.
