Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to The Daily Mail that Josh Onomah will not leave in the summer transfer window.

Onomah spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship from Premier League club Tottenham.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who has made only a handful of appearances for the Spurs first team, made 20 starts and 14 substitute appearances in the Championship for Villa last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Tottenham manager Pochettino has said that Onomah – who earns £30,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – is in his plans for the 2018-19 campaign.

Pochettino, though, has suggested that Netherlands international striker Vincent Janssen will leave Tottenham after two years at the North London club.

“I think it’s different personal situations for different players,” Pochettino told The Daily Mail. “The situation for Vincent is clear but Josh is part of our plans. He’s injured and doing his recovery with Harry Winks, that’s why he’s not here.”

Good decision?

Onomah is a talented and promising young midfielder, and although it is going to be hard for the former Villa loanee to establish himself in the Tottenham first team next season, he could become a star for Spurs in the long run.

As for Janssen, the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact at Tottenham during the 2016-17 campaign following his move from AZ in the summer of 2016, and with Fernando Llorente also at Spurs, the Dutchman is going to be the third-choice striker.
