Mauricio Pochettino comments on Mousa Dembele’s Tottenham future

Mousa Dembele is out of contract at Tottenham Hotspur next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to The Daily Mail that club chairman Daniel Levy will make the decision on the future of Mousa Dembele.

Dembele, who is on the sidelines at the moment with an ankle injury, is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season, according to The Daily Mail.

When asked about the future of Dembele, Pochettino told The Daily Mail: “That is down to Daniel. What do you think Daniel is going to do?”

Sell or keep?

Dembele has had injury issues in recent times, and with the Belgium international midfielder out of contract next summer, it does make sense – from a business point of view – to sell the 31-year-old in the January transfer window.

After all, Tottenham will not get any transfer fee once the contract of the former Fulham star runs out next summer.

However, the Belgian is a very good midfielder when he is fit, and manager Pochettino will need him in the coming months, as Spurs challenge for the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League.

Dembele was on the books of Fulham from 2010 until the summer of 2012 when he moved to Tottenham for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £15 million.
