“To be honest, it was difficult, we started training on Monday and until Wednesday it was difficult to be happy and to start to focus only on Manchester United because we missed a big, big opportunity to put pressure on Chelsea, not opportunity to win the league, because, but yes, we missed the opportunity to put pressure on them and fight until the end,” Pochettino told Football.London when asked what the mood has been like among the players after last week’s defeat to West Ham United.
Tottenham players and fans must be terribly disappointed with their failure to close the gap on leaders Chelsea last week, but they should be optimistic about the future.
The White Hart Lane faithful should be pleased and proud of the season the team have had. With Spurs set to finish second in the league, it is a clear sign of the progress the club have made.
Pochettino’s side will return to action on Sunday evening when they take on Manchester United at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
