Mauricio Pochettino shares what he noticed during the last 10 minutes of Tottenham’s defeat to Bayern

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to bounce back from their Tuesday night humiliation when they take on Brighton at the weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he noticed his players ‘gave up a little bit’ during the last 10 minutes of Tottenham’s damaging 7-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.

Spurs conceded three of their seven goals during the last 10 minutes of the Champions League encounter, with Serge Gnabry ending up with a remarkable four goals on the night.

It is a very low point in Pochettino’s career in North London and being able to turnaround the current mess will now be his biggest challenge.

Nonetheless, Pochettino was in a pretty fiery mood after he witnessed his side concede seven goals, as he shared his thoughts on the last 10 minutes of the game and whether his team can grind out results.

“The feeling of course in the last 10 minutes of the game, when we conceded three goals, it’s like the team was tired and gave up a little bit,” Pochettino told Sky Sports. “That shows a little bit our frustration during the game because until the 82nd minute the team was alive. The [team] was fighting, we created a few chances to score the third goal. But they were very clinical.

“Of course, we are so, so disappointed. I feel very, very, very disappointed. I feel so bad because we have conceded seven goals. It’s so tough. But we need to face this type of situation.

On being in the CL final last season & being able to grind out results: “Maybe I am boring you about my speech,” Pochettino told the Last Word on Spurs. “I say football is today, it’s not yesterday. Football is not about what happened three months ago. It’s always about today and playing your best.”

Spurs did open the scoring through Heung-Ming Son’ low strike, and even when they went into the break 2-1 behind, Pochettino would have felt that they still had a chance of winning the contest.

But Bayern kept picking off Spurs, with right-back Serge Aurier especially struggling, as every mistake was seemingly being punished.

The best cure for Pochettino and his players, at this moment in time, is going back onto the pitch and winning and they can do that when they take on Brighton at the weekend.
