Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Saturday night.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he doesn’t regret his decision to start Harry Kane against Liverpool last night.
Kane had spent almost two months on the sidelines, but had worked his way back to being somewhere near fitness in order to play the Champions League final.
Sadly, it didn’t really work out for Spurs. Kane was quiet and had few moments of quality, with Tottenham unable to carve out the golden chances that Kane can take.
Liverpool ended up running out 2-0 winners, with Mohamed Salah’s early penalty and a late Divock Origi strike sealing a sixth European Cup for the Reds.
Much has been made of the decision to start Kane, as Lucas Moura – Tottenham’s hat-trick hero against Ajax in the semi-finals – was dropped to the bench.
After the game, Pochettino admitted that he based his decision on analytics and all the fitness information available, adding that he doesn’t regret his decision.

“The problem is you create a history or a drama but it’s not about playing with Harry Kane or Lucas Moura. That is the thing that was important or not important. It’s a decision and of course for me Harry Kane after one month and a half finished the game fresh.”
“He didn’t score like other players. It’s not a point to talk too much. My decision I promise was about analytics and thinking with all the information. I don’t regret my decision,” he added.
Pundit Don Hutchison isn’t impressed though, believing Pochettino made a big mistake as using the pace of Moura and Son Heung-min would have tired out the Liverpool defence before bringing on Kane late on, even suggesting that he’d be asking to leave Spurs if he was Moura.
