Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he does not know if Erik Lamela will play for the Under-23 side this weekend.

Pochettino told Football.London on Thursday when asked if Lamela is more likely to play for the Under-23s on Saturday: “I don’t know. We have another training session tomorrow.

“We are waiting but maybe we decide yes to play him in the U23s. Tomorrow we need to wait, maybe in his mind he say: ‘Gaffer if you want, I am ready again to be available if you believe I can help the team’.”

Lamela has started training with the Tottenham first team, having been on the sidelines for several months.

The Argentina international winger has had injury concerns during his time at Spurs so far, and it would make sense for him to take his time into making a first-team comeback.

Spurs are doing well without Lamela at the moment and did well without him last season, and are not exactly desperate for the 25-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder.

Tottenham have a much better team than West Brom and should be able to pick up all three points against the Baggies at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday afternoon.
