Tottenham Hotspur are having a good season at the moment.
Spurs handed out new deals to a number of players in 2016, including goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, midfielders Harry Winks and Dele Alli, and defender Jan Vertonghen.
The North London outfit finished second in the Premier League last season, and they are aiming to go one better this term.
Tottenham have some of the best players in Europe, such as defender Toby Alderweireld, striker Harry Kane and attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.
While the players seem happy at Spurs at the moment, yet another strong season could mean that they will have to be given new deals in order to reflect their progress.
Tottenham manager Pochettino has revealed that club chairman Levy is working hard on making everyone at Spurs happy.
“The chairman is working but we must understand there are always two parts,” Pochettino told Yahoo! Sport when asked if players will be given improved contracts soon. “Daniel is working hard to make happy everyone – also us!
“You know Daniel, he never stops thinking and working. I congratulate him because he has just received the award for the CEO of the Year [at the Football Business Awards]. I want to congratulate him.”
While one can understand the need to hand top-performing players new deals, it must also been noted that they are already getting paid for doing their job and are essentially doing what they are supposed to.
It would make sense for Tottenham to wait until next summer or later on in the season to hand out new deals to their best players.
Tottenham are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, and have also already progressed to the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
