Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that the atmosphere for today’s game against Watford wasn’t ideal.

Spurs returned from the international break in desperate need of results, having gone into the break off the back of a 3-0 away defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, Pochettino’s side once again looked devoid of ideas in the first half against Watford, with Abdoulaye Doucoure firing the winless visitors into an early lead.

Spurs looked for an equaliser and it finally game late on, with Dele Alli snatching a point for Tottenham despite VAR controversy over the goal.

Tottenham sit seventh in the table but have won just three of their league games this season, with Pochettino still desperately seeking any sort of consistency.

Fans won’t be happy with the continued issues, but it seems that Pochettino wasn’t entirely satisfied with the atmosphere inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

Pochettino admitted that he thought the atmosphere ‘wasn’t the best’ for much of the game, but felt the fans came alive for the last 20 minutes, calling them ‘amazing’ for their upturn in support.

“The performance wasn’t great, but when you concede an early goal it is always tough, it is a difficult situation,” said Pochettino. “The atmosphere wasn’t in the way you love to play, it wasn’t the best. It is not easy, when I was a professional footballer in this type of situation it was always difficult”

“For me [that goal] is the first step to build our confidence. The other day a friend said to me that in five years it’s the first time we’ve received a knock like that 7-2 and it’s a new thing for us and the players. I have to say that in the last 20 minutes our fans were amazing and pushed us on,” he added.
