Mauricio Pochettino claims there’s something he needs to teach Tottenham Hotspur fans

Tottenham Hotspur are due to take on West Ham United in the League Cup this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Yahoo Sports that he needs to teach supporters of the North London club that it is extremely difficult to compete in all four competitions.

Tottenham are set to rotate their squad against West Ham United in the League Cup later this evening, as Pochettino looks to ensure that his team remain fresh.

Spurs are competing for the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and the League Cup this term.

And Pochettino wants Spurs fans to have a greater understanding of the difficulties of having such a rigorous schedule.

“It’s so easy, like when you put it in front of every club or us as the managers, to say ‘oh, it’s not a priority. Why do you rotate?’. But the players are not machines, and it’s so difficult. Spain, France, Germany and Italy are completely different,” Pochettino said.

“I think we need to teach our fans, we need to teach you too, because it’s so difficult to fight for four competitions, and then it’s how you manage your group of players.”

Tottenham are likely to give chances to the likes of Michel Vorm and Juan Foyth against West Ham this evening.

The last time Spurs fielded a weakened side was against Barnsley in the third round of the competition, and their performance on that day was not particularly impressive.

Tottenham only managed to pick up a 1-0 victory over Barnsley, and it is likely that they will have to be much improved tonight if they are to progress.

If Spurs do beat the Hammers then it could spell the end of West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.
