Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham United 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he felt defender Davinson Sanchez was a ‘beast’ in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over West Ham United.
Just 48 hours after losing 1-0 at home to Manchester City, Tottenham were back in action again on Wednesday night, travelling to the London Stadium to take on London rivals West Ham.
Unsurprisingly, Pochettino named a much-changed team, and it was one player who came in – Son Heung-min – wh bagged the opener, and the South Korean star added a second after the break.
Lucas Perez pulled one back for West Ham from a Robert Snodgrass corner, but Fernando Llorente latched onto Christian Eriksen’s corner to give Spurs a 3-1 victory.
Pochettino’s rotated side featured the likes of Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga, but just one player featured in Wednesday’s game as well as the defeat to City; defender Davinson Sanchez.
The Colombian played 90 minutes on Monday and again on Wednesday, but showed no signs of slowing down as he turned in a superb display against West Ham – and is likely to play against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday too.
After the game, Pochettino praised Sanchez, calling him ‘a beast’ for playing so well in a second game in 48 hours, whilst also hailing his squad for working so hard and waiting for their opportunities.
“Today was difficult but I am proud of the squad, they are working so so hard, waiting for their opportunities,” said Pochettino. “Davinson Sanchez was a beast,” he added.
