Tottenham Hotspur were lucky to beat Leicester City yesterday.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 3-1 win over Newcastle United yesterday, and offered an apology for the manner in which he acted after Heung-Min Son scored an injury time goal, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs are right in the mix in the race for the Premier League title, and they currently sit just five points adrift of league leaders Manchester City and second placed Liverpool, although they do have a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s side.
Tottenham have won their last four league games on the bounce, a quite remarkable feat considering Harry Kane has been unavailable for all of them and Dele Alli has been out for three of those.
The north London outfit have really found a way to grind out results, with yesterday being a prime example of just that.
Pochettino was visibly relieved after Son struck late on to ensure all three points against Leicester, and he issued an apology for his reaction, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by Football.London:
“I was very relieved, I didn’t behave properly because I shoot the ball into the stands and I want to apologise but it was a massive moment for us because it was the moment we could say we feel the three points in our side.”
Next up for Tottenham is their huge clash with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night, and the Bundesliga outfit will represent a really strong test for Pochettino’s side.
And the Argentine will be hoping that his side can summon the physical and mental strength to chalk up another big result.
