Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino handed a debut to Juan Foyth against Barnsley yesterday.

Foyth joined Spurs from Estudiantes in the summer transfer window in a deal worth £9 million according to the Sun, and he has been held back to date.
However, Mauricio Pochettino put Foyth in Tottenham’s starting line-up for their Carabao Cup match against Barnsley last night.
And the Argentine defender stood out, as Spurs progressed to the fourth round of the competition.

Tottenham beat the Tykes 1-0, with Dele Alli scoring, but it was Foyth who picked up the man of the match award.
And Pochettino was full of praise for the 19-year-old defender after the contest. The Spurs boss said: “It was difficult because he was playing his first game with not too much time to know the way we play or work with the whole team. I think he was very calm and relaxed in the game.
“I am very happy because it is always difficult to come from Argentina and play here in England. It’s not easy and that his debut is at Wembley. That’s more pressure on his debut.”

Foyth is likely to have a reserve role to play at Spurs this season, as he adjusts to life with the North London club.
Tottenham already have a settled back-line, and Foyth was always signed as a player for future years.
Spurs’ next contest comes at the weekend, when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
