Mauricio Pochettino has opened up on his great relationship with Ossie Ardiles, revealing that they meet before each home game.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told BBC Sport’s Premier League Show that he has a great relationship with club legend Ossie Ardiles.

Spurs return to Premier League action this weekend as they travel to The Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion with their unbeaten league record still intact.

Pochettino’s men have won five and drawn two of their first seven Premier League games this season, with the 2-0 home win over league leaders Manchester City earlier this month laying down a real marker.

The two-week international break has given manager Pochettino some time to think about that win over City, but it may have come at a bad time given how Tottenham’s momentum was building.

Ahead of the game against West Brom, manager Pochettino has been speaking to former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas in an interview for BBC Sport’s Premier League Show, and the subject of Spurs’ former Argentinians was brought up.

Ossie Ardiles

Club heroes Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa played for the club during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, with Ardiles later going on to manage the club as well.

Pochettino is the latest Argentinian hero at White Hart Lane, and he was asked how he feels about continuing the legacy of Ardiles and Villa.

Pochettino stated that it’s special for him to be the latest Argentinian at White Hart Lane, and revealed that he and Ardiles share a chat before every home game, adding to their ‘great relationship’, with Villa coming over once a year too.

“For me, it’s very special,” said Pochettino. “In every game that we play at White Hart Lane, Ossie always comes into my manager’s room before the game and we spend five minutes having a very nice chat – we have a great relationship. Then, once a year, he comes over with Ricky, and they spend time with us, it’s fantastic,” he added.
