Matt Polster joined Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers in the January transfer window.

Matt Polster has been a rather underwhelming signing for Rangers. Amid the arrivals of striker Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, the recruitment of the 25-year-old in the January transfer window has gone under the radar somewhat.
Defoe and Davis are big-name players, and the duo have arrived at Rangers having proven themselves in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Polster – who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder – had to impress in a trial before being handed a contract by Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Given the competition for places and lack of match practice for the 25-year-old, the USA international is unlikely to make a huge impact at Rangers this season, but he could play an important role for the Ibrox club during the 2019-20 campaign.
Former USA international Maurice Edu played for Rangers from 2008 until 2012, and the 32-year-old’s recent comments about Polster will be encouraging for the Ibrox faithful.

Edu believes that Polster will do well at Rangers, and he has also suggested that the 25-year-old will relish the challenge at the Scottish Premiership giants.
“I think he has the quality to go there and do well but it is going to be a challenge but it’s a challenge I think Matt will appreciate,” Edu told American Soccer Now about Polster.
