Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels is set to join Anderlecht on loan until the end of the season.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United’s Matz Sels is set to leave St. James’ Park to join Anderlecht on loan imminently and that surely suggests that Rafael Benitez is getting closer to landing a goalkeeper.
Newcastle have been attempting to sign a new stopper for much of the summer so far, but have failed to get a deal over the line.

However, Benitez’s willingness to part ways with Sels is surely an indication that a deal could be close.
Newcastle now only have two senior goalkeepers in their first-team squad, and they would not take that risk going into the new season.
Instead, it can now be safely assumed that the Magpies will secure the signature of a new number one in the near future.
Benitez is thought to have doubts over whether either of Newcastle’s current stoppers, Karl Darlow or Rob Elliot, can be his first choice pick in the Premier League.

And Newcastle are now thought to have made bringing in a new custodian one of their top priorities this summer.
The Tynesiders have been linked with Manchester City’s Willy Caballero and Napoli’s Pepe Reina recently (Chronicle).
