Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff has been one of the stars of pre-season for Steve Bruce’s side.

Longstaff has been one of the stars of Newcastle’s pre-season, but it is not clear how much game time he will get for Steve Bruce’s side this term.
Longstaff has his brother, Sean, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Jack Colback all to compete with currently, as he looks to earn a place in central midfield.
And Longstaff admits that if he isn’t guaranteed game time at St. James’ Park he would like to go out on loan to experience senior football elsewhere.
“On a personal note if I get chances here great, but if I need EFL football, I will take it,” he said.
“I have to wait and see what Newcastle want to do with me.”
Whether Bruce will sanction a loan deal for Longstaff remains to be seen.

Longstaff is the second Newcastle player in as many games to suggest that they could move on before the deadline day, as Isaac Hayden admitted similar yesterday.
Newcastle begin their season at the weekend when they take on Arsenal.
