Aston Villa defender Matty Cash has tweeted out that the offside decision which went against them last night in their clash with Manchester City was simply ‘unbelievable’.
Villa were left seething when Rodri was deemed to be onside, despite robbing Tyrone Mings of the ball.
Rodri was clearly way beyond the last defender, but because Mings took the ball down the officials deemed that a new phase of play had started.
Villa boss Dean Smith was sent off for his protestations against the decision.
And the offside call was the talk of Villa’s players on social media website Twitter.
The decision did look particularly harsh on Villa, but Mings’s defending of the situation was also worthy of some criticism.
The claret and blues went on to concede again after Bernardo Silva’s opener, with Ilkay Gundagon converting from the penalty spot.
The defeat leaves Villa sitting in 11th place in the Premier League table although they do have plenty of games in hand on those around them.
