Nottingham Forest midfielder Matty Cash has put pen to paper over a new four-and-a-half year deal at The City Ground, with the club tying him down until 2021.

The 19-year-old has excelled in his first full season for the Reds, making 19 league appearances – including his debut against Burton Albion on the opening day of the season – and racking up two assists.

Some fans have touted the full-blooded midfielder as a long term replacement for former captain Henri Lansbury, who departed Forest for Aston Villa in the January transfer window,

Cash has also shown on several occasions that he’s willing to play anywhere at The City Ground, with the mindset that he doesn’t mind where he’s put, so long as he is picked for the club and can show what he can do on the pitch.

This has however, caused some issues, with a failed spell at right wing back leading to some unnecessary criticism of the talented midfielder on social media.

Forest fans will be hoping that Cash gets a chance to cement his position in the middle of the park, and can remain and flourish at The City Ground for many years to come.
