Versatile Nottingham Forest starlet Matty Cash has revealed that he is willing to play in any position in order to break back into the first-team.
The 20-year-old is naturally a central midfielder but has also previously been used as a right wing-back and disclosed that he can play anywhere for Mark Warburton’s side.
Cash featured prominently for Forest last season as he made 28 Championship appearances but, after suffering an ankle injury during pre-season, he has yet to feature for the senior side this campaign.
Cash told the Nottingham Post: “I have said it before and I will say it again – I will play in any position for this football club. If I am involved and playing, I am happy. It is a dream come true for me to be playing for Forest.
“If the gaffer wants me to play right-back, left-back, central midfield, as a number 10 or as a striker, whatever – I will do it.
“I will always give my best, in whatever position I am asked to play.”
Cash, who joined Forest in 2014, gained valuable experience while on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge in 2016 and may well have to head out on temporary transfer again in January if he is unable to force his way into Warburton’s plans.
A player with impressive pace, Cash is a neat passer of the ball although he still requires some improvements defensively, which is perhaps why he has been overlooked so far this campaign.
Forest are currently in ninth place in the Championship and are aiming to secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League via the play-offs and Cash will certainly be hoping to play a part in proceedings.
