Matty Cash has stated on Twitter ‘good luck mate’ as he was reacting to Keinan Davis leaving Aston Villa for Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa confirmed on their official website on Saturday that their hard-hitting striker has dropped down to the Championship to join the promotion-chasers.
And Cash, who joined Villa from Forest over a year ago, sent this three-word message relating to that news:
This is a much-needed move for Davis and one that could be crucial for a Forest side that look like a different animal under Steve Cooper.
It wasn’t so long ago that the two-time European champions were sitting bottom of the Championship table and producing the worst football in the division.
But fast forward to today and they are just five-points behind sixth-placed Huddersfield and in with a real chance of promotion.
Davis was part of the Villa party that went on a ten-game winning run and earned promotion via the play-offs under Dean Smith.
And the Englishman will be hoping to bring some of that experience to the City Ground during these next few months.
There’s no doubt that Cash would have said a few positive words to Davis about Forest because the right-back is still a popular figure with his former club.
And it would be something if a club the size of Forest returned to where they belong and started competing with the elite once again.
It’s a crying shame that they have gone over two decades without any Premier League football because they are perhaps the biggest sleeping giants outside of England’s top-tier.
