Aston Villa defender, Matty Cash, has labelled Tottenham target, Brennan Johnson, as ‘some player’.

On Sunday, Johnson helped Nottingham Forest beat Leicester City 4-1 in the FA Cup and Villa’s flying fullback liked what he saw, as he posted on Twitter.

Cash wasn’t the only one seemingly paying attention to Johnson over the weekend because there are claims that Tottenham Sporting Director, Fabio Paratici, was watching Johnson and his teammate, Djed Spence.

One thing is for sure, the duo’s stock is rising and it’s largely thanks to them playing a part in Forest knocking out two Premier League teams from the FA Cup this season – Leicester City and Arsenal.

Added with that, they are also surging up the Championship table after sitting bottom of the table under Chris Hughton at the start of the campaign.

Ever since Steve Cooper has walked through the doors at the City Ground, he has changed the fortunes of the Midlands giants, who are now dreaming of promotion.

With someone like Johnson, they certainly have a player who has the touch, ball-carrying ability and movement of someone worthy of taking to the Premier League stage one day.

Forest supporters will be hoping it will be in their colours, if not, then he will find his way up that road, one way or another.

Those in north London are crying for someone to play with the freedom and arrogance that can connect their whole team together.

Someone like Johnson, who scored Forest’s third goal against the Foxes, has the versatility to sit in the pockets as a ten or play out wide.

Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he seemingly has admirers at Hotspur Way.

Until then, he will be focused on trying to help his boyhood club end their 20+ year wait to return to the big time.
