Arsenal won 2-0 against Spurs in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Shkodran Mustafi put the home team ahead in the 36th minute. However, replays showed that he was marginally offside.

Alexis Sanchez scored for the Gunners just five minutes later to make it 2-0.

Former Arsenal player turned BBC pundit, Matthew Upson, was impressed with the Gunners’ victory.

He said that Arsene Wenger’s men not only matched Spurs in every department but that they were even better. However, he is concerned about whether Arsenal can maintain this standard throughout the season.

“It was a very impressive performance from Arsenal, they were showing things we’ve criticised them to lack previously, like their intensity and work rate,” said Upson to BBC Sport (live commentary; 14:26 pm).

“Physically they matched Spurs, or were even better.

“My only concern is that this is the standard and this is what needs to happen going forward.”

In the past we have seen seen Arsenal beat big teams when the odds were against them, but they have performed poorly against lower oppositions.

Arsenal had only 42% of the possession, but they were looking to attack on the counter in the second half.

With this victory, the Gunners moved to sixth in the Premier League, just one point behind Spurs.
