Davinson Sanchez was shown red card as Tottenham drew 1-1 vs Watford.
Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw against Watford at the Vicarage Road on Saturday in the Premier League.
The home side took an early lead in the 13th minute when Christian Kabasele headed in from six yards from Tom Cleverley’s corner.
Tottenham responded quickly through Son Heung-min who finished off Christian Eriksen’s cross from close range.
Spurs played most of the second half with 10 men after defender Davinson Sanchez was sent off for elbowing Richarlison in the 52nd minute.
According to former West Ham player and now BBC pundit, Matthew Upson, Sanchez didn’t try to elbow him.
He says that Richarlison had a run on him, and all he did was to try to block him. However, in the end it is an elbow on the face and the referee was left with no choice but to give him the marching orders.
“I genuinely don’t believe that Sanchez has tried to elbow him in the face. Richarlison had the run on him, he’s stretched his arm to block him, he’s tried to foul him and his elbow has gone way too high but it’s an elbow in the face and those are the facts,” Upson told BBC Sport (live commentary, 02 / 12/ 2017 – 16:11 pm).
It was a big moment in the game. Against an in-form opposition like Watford, it was never going to be easy to play with 10 men, and Spurs in the end had to remain satisfied with a draw.
The result means Spurs have now gone four games without a win in the Premier League.
