Matthew Pennington has suggested to BBC Radio Leeds that he does not regret joining Leeds United from Everton in the summer transfer window.

Pennington joined Championship club Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Everton in the summer.

The 23-year-old central defender has made four starts and one substitute appearances in the Championship for the Whites so far this season.

Much was expected of the former England Under-19 international centre-back when he arrived at Elland Road and after his initial performances.

However, Pennington’s recent displays, just like those of the team, have been disappointing, but the Englishman does not seem to regret his decision to join Leeds on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.

Pennington told BBC Radio Leeds when asked if he still thinks that joining Leeds was the right move for him in the summer: “Yeah, definitely. It’s a place I can play games, I can gain experience, massive club for me, and it’s a brilliant place to play football. It’s perfect for me.”

Leeds started the season strongly, but the Whites’ recent performances and results have been mixed.

The West Yorkshire outfit are still very much in the race for the playoffs, though, and one should not be surprised if Thomas Christiansen’s side put together a run of positive results soon.
