Leeds United have signed Matthew Pennington on loan from Everton for the duration of the season.
Matthew Pennington has expressed his delight on social media website Twitter after signing for Leeds United.
Pennington completed a loan move from Everton to Leeds earlier today.
The 23-year-old is set to spend the entire season at Elland Road, and he has taken to social media to thank Leeds supporters for the warm welcome they have given him.
Pennington could have a very important role to play at Leeds next season, as Thomas Christiansen is currently short of options at centre-back.
Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper are the only two other centre-halves in Leeds’ squad at the moment.
Jansson is expected to be part of Leeds’ starting line-up next term, leaving Pennington in competition with Cooper for the other place in the team.
Pennington has become Leeds’ ninth signing of what has been a very busy transfer window to date.
Leeds kick off their competitive season with a match against Bolton Wanderers at the start of August.
