Leeds United’s teenagers suffered heartbreak in the FA Youth Cup last night.

Matthew Downing has reacted on Twitter after Leeds United Under-18s were dumped out of the FA Youth Cup in heart-wrenching fashion on Tuesday.

Mark Jackson’s side will not be present in the fourth round after Hull City recovered from a two-goal deficit at the break to win 3-2 after extra time last night – netting two late equalisers in the dying minutes of normal time.

Highly-rated Leeds forward Malik Wilks opened the scoring by slotting home at the back post on nine minutes, and then added another before the half-hour mark.

The Whites looked to be sailing into the next round, but goals in the 88th and 91st minute saved Hull who miraculously flipped the match on its head.

And Robbie McKenzie – who scored Hull’s penalty – struck the winner on 114 minutes to ease the Tigers’ progression into the next phase of the competition.

Defender Downing played the full two hours last night, and the youngster says he is “absolutely gutted” with the way things panned out for Leeds.
