Livingston striker Matthew Knox is reportedly wanted by Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Matthew Knox of Livingston in the summer transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Championship outfit Leeds are among a number of clubs who are interested in signing Knox in the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Reading and Cardiff City are also claimed to hold interest in the 17-year-old Scotland Under-17 international striker.

Knox is one of the most promising and talented young strikers in Scotland, and the teenager’s performances for the Livingston first team have been quite impressive.

(Reported) interest from Leeds, who are one of the biggest clubs in England, should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Playing for Livingston and playing for Leeds is quite different, though. While one club will feature in the Scottish Championship next season and will play in front of fewer than 10,000 spectators, another team will have at times over 30,000 fans and will be aiming to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Elland Road faithful, though, should be confident that Knox would be a success at Leeds, and that he would be able to cope with the pressure of playing in front of the Whites’ fans.

As reported by The Daily Record in January 2017, Knox trained with Premier League and European giants Manchester United last season; he also had trials spells at Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, claims the report.

For any teenage footballer, getting a trial at United and training with the big names would be daunting, but the youngster took it all in his stride when he was at Carrington for the third time.

“I didn’t find this trip to Manchester as nerve wracking as I had previously,” Knox told The Daily Record in January 2017. “The first time I went and trained with a massive club was Liverpool and I was really nervous which was to be expected but I cope better now.

“The training is very different, you get pressed a lot harder, it’s sharper and there is more ball work. I train with the Livingston first team every day so it’s a lot more physical than down in Manchester.

“Some of the boys in United’s Academy have been in it for between five and ten years so they are very gifted and technical but I feel I’m just as technical, if not even more so. It was completely different experience to anything I have been used to.”
