Knox has spent time on trial at Sunderland, Rangers, Liverpool and Manchester United, but it is the Mackems who made the strongest play for his signature last month.
After his transfer failed to materialise, however, the Livingston midfielder has ended up on loan at East Fife in search of first team experience.
Discussing Sunderland’s interest, Knox told the Daily Record: “I believe there’s been a few bids put in (from Sunderland) that maybe didn’t meet the price that Livi were asking for.
“But hopefully they’ll keep an eye on me, along with the other clubs.
“I felt I did well at Sunderland. I played in a trial game and trained a few times, I was only down for three days. So I did the most I could in that short time.
“Livingston were good enough to let me go down and experience it and see how I got on.”
Despite all the hype surrounding him, Knox has still only played 19 times at senior level – and celebrated his 18th birthday the week before Christmas.
It’s unlikely then, that even if he had joined Sunderland, Rangers, Liverpool or Manchester United, Knox would have been any closer to securing first team football.
The former Scotland Under-17 international is due to return to Livingston at the end of the campaign.
