The 25-year-old attacking midfielder started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side won 3-1.
Former West Ham winger Etherington was following the match, and the 37-year-old was impressed with the performance of Brazil international Anderson.
Etherington told BBC Sport (18:02): “I thought Everton were poor on the day, West Ham by far better side. Felipe Anderson was outstanding.
“Arnautovic got another goal but the injury is a worry he is a big player for them. Declan Rice was amazing.”
Meanwhile, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman praised Declan Rice on BBC’s Match of the Day 2, and said: “For a young man of 19, he really did dictate the middle of the park.”
