Arsenal visit their North London rivals tomorrow hoping for a victory.
But one player on the Gunners’ books has already experienced the feeling of beating their local enemies this weekend.
Matteo Guendouzi, whom Arsenal loaned to Hertha Berlin during the summer transfer window, was on the winning side in last night’s 3-1 Bundesliga win over Union Berlin.
Union were ahead of Guendouzi and his team-mates in the table at the time – and they still are – but that illustrates that the hosts were slight underdogs.
Guendouzi was frozen out of Arsenal’s plans under Mikel Arteta this season and toward the end of the 2019-20 campaign, following a controversial defeat at Brighton back in June.
Here’s how fans of the North London club responded to the French midfielder’s post-match tweet after the recent derby win:
Guendouzi is a big talent and if he can let his football do the talking, and stamp out the petulant side of his game and on-the-field personality, then it’ll go a huge way toward helping him fulfill some of the undoubted ability that he does indeed have.
