Aston Villa continue to struggle in the Championship and currently sit in 17th position in the table.

Northampton Town’s Matthew Taylor was speaking live this morning on Sky Sports Now at 10:55 am, and had his say on Aston Villa’s current problems.
Villa once again conceded a late equaliser against Barnsley last night, and recored their fifth consecutive Championship draw, taking their season tally to seven in their opening ten games.
It was the third time in their last five games that they have conceded a goal after the 87th minute, costing them six points in the process.

Taylor spoke to Sky Sports, and highlighted the key area that he believes the Villans desperately need to improve in:
“He (Di Matteo), as a manger, needs to keep drilling into his players that they are good footballers. Maybe they need to tighten up at the back, but what you have to remember is that this is a new experience for a lot of these Aston Villa players in the Championship, games come a lot thicker and faster than they do in the Premier League, so they need to try and see out games, pick up points, and try and get themselves back up the table.”
The Champions League winning manager is certainly a man under pressure, and last night’s draw will not have helped his cause one little bit.

There was a toxic atmosphere present at Villa Park last term as the fans were forced to witness their team’s lack of pride, passion and effort on a regular basis.
The worry for Di Matteo is that it seems as though that exact same ill-feeling towards the team is slowly seeping back into the fanbase, and the fact that their next game is away from home against Preston North-End is probably not a bad thing.
They must ensure that they get back to winning ways immediately if they are to have any hope of being involved in the promotion race come May.
