Matt Polster joined Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers in the January transfer window.

As announced on Rangers’ official website last month, Polster – who can also operate as a defender – has joined the Gers Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 25-year-old USA international right-back has arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation.
Polster has suggested that he wanted to move to Rangers in the summer of 2018 when Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard – who had a spell at Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS – was appointed the manager of the Gers, and that the former England international midfielder wanted him at Ibrox, too.
“He was someone who I idolized from a young age,” Polster told American Soccer Now about Gerrard. “It was cool and we built a relationship from there.
“Once he got the manager job here, I expressed interest to be part of a big club. He kind of felt the same.
“Things weren’t going the way I wanted in 2018 but we still kept in touch and I let him know how I was progressing through the injury. When it came time, he gave me the chance to come over to Glasgow.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Polster is a very good player, and his versatility to play as a right-back or as a midfielder is going to be a boon for Rangers.
The 25-year-old may not make an impact at Ibrox this season, but the USA international player who can certainly be of huge important to Gerrard during the 2019-20 campaign and beyond.
