Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers snapped up the 25-year-old in January.

Matt Polster has told STV that he feels ready for his Rangers debut.

The American right-back joined Rangers in January but hasn’t yet kicked a ball under Steven Gerrard.

Polster, who joined from Chicago Fire, has been absent with a groin problem but James Tavernier’s form is the main reason why Polster hasn’t made his Gers bow.

He told STV: “I want to play, I don’t want to just be working under him I want to play for him, so the main thing and the main goal is to get on the pitch at some point.”

Polster will more than likely get chances next month.

If Gerrard’s side lose at Old Firm rivals Celtic on March 31 then they’ll slip 13 points behind the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers already have little to play for, but losing at Parkhead would be the final nail in their title hopes and, with second place effectively sewn up, it would give Gerrard a bit more room for experimentation until the end of the season.

Not that the 37-year-old should play a weakened team every week, but giving Polster chances this season makes sense to prep him for next term.
