West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy.

The Daily Mirror recently suggested that West Brom were one of a number of sides interested in signing Norwich winger Jacob Murphy this summer, while the Chronicle reported that the Canaries would want £12 million for the youngster.

While that fee may seem fairly steep for a player who only made his league debut for Norwich this past season, Matt Phillips’ form since his switch to the Hawthorns should convince Tony Pulis to make Murphy a top target.

Phillips arguably became the inspired acquisition of the previous summer, scoring four times in the Premier League and contributing eight assists in his debut campaign for West Brom following his £5.5 million move from the Championship (via Sky Sports).

The Scotland international arrived at the Hawthorns having scored eight and provided five assists in the league in his final year at Loftus Road with Queens Park Rangers.

Interestingly, Murphy scored one more goal and provided one more assist in the Championship this past season with Norwich, despite playing a number of games fewer than Phillips did.

That kind of return, coupled with the fact that he is young enough to develop significantly in the coming years should tempt the Baggies to follow up on their initial interest by making a bid that appeals to Norwich, even if that bid has to be worth the full £12 million.
