Wolverhampton Wanderers took three points back to Molineux from the home of the Premier League champions.

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has picked the Wolverhampton Wanderers triumph away at Manchester City as his surprise result of the Premier League season so far, as reported by Sporting Life.

Prior to the trip to the Etihad, Wolves were in the lower reaches of the table following a slow start to the campaign, while the Citizens had bounced back from the shock Norwich loss to register five wins in a row in all competitions, all by two or more goals – including an 8-0 rout of Watford.

However, following their superb victory at Besiktas, the Molineux side then stunned the domestic treble champions with a 2-0 victory on their own turf thanks to Adama Traore‘s late brace as the Molineux side beat the reigning English champions away from home for the first time since 1984 (BBC Sport).

Indeed, Le Tissier has ranked the Wolves win at Man City – which has put Nuno Espirito Santo’s side 11th in the Premier League table going into the international break – above Brighton’s hammering of Tottenham and Norwich’s own victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.

“Given Manchester City’s record at home, I would have to go with the Wolves result at the weekend, and the fact they kept a clean sheet,” Le Tissier is quoted by Sporting Life as saying. “This has to be the biggest shock.

“Brighton beating Tottenham was not as such a shock to me, particularly the way Tottenham have been playing. Norwich beating City was also a huge shock, but Wolves beating Man City at the Etihad takes it for me.”

Wolves are back at Molineux this weekend as they host Southampton in the Premier League.
