The Bournemouth manager would be the ideal successor to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, according to the Sky Sports pundit.

Former professional footballer Matt le Tissier looks on during day fifteen of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace on December 30, 2013 in London, England.

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier backed Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe as the ideal candidate to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, when writing a column for Sky Sports.

The Frenchman will step down from his role as Gunners boss at the end of this season, after 22 years in charge at the Emirates, and there has already been plenty of names thrown into the ring as to who will take over from the 68-year-old.

Eddie Howe, manager of Bournemouth applauds the fans after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth at Selhurst Park on December 9, 2017 in London, England.

Massimiliano Allegri is the bookies’ favourite to get the Arsenal job at 11/4, according to SkyBET, followed by Luis Enrique at 7/2, Brendan Rodgers and Joachim Loew at 7/1.

Next up in the list is Eddie Howe at 8/1, and Le Tissier backed the 40-year-old for the Arsenal job, when writing a column for Sky Sports:

Matt Le Tissier answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

“I don’t think it is already a done deal and I’d like to see a young English manager get a crack at it. Everybody wants the big star name but we’ve seen it isn’t always the way to go. I think Eddie Howe deserves a chance. It’s probably a bit controversial but he’s proven himself in the Premier League and I think he’s ready to make the step up.”

Howe has worked wonders during his time in charge at the Vitality Stadium, and the brand of football that he has implemented on the south coast would make him the ideal fit for the Gunners.

His lack of experience in managing a massive club could be an issue, though, and will surely be something that is noted by the Arsenal hierarchy when doing their due diligence.
