The Saints have struggled in the early stages of the season but St Mary’s Stadium legend Le Tissier is hoping the team can bounce back after the break.

Southampton legend and Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has singled out Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo for praise as the Saints prepare for a return to Premier League action after the international break (Daily Echo).
Things haven’t quite gone according to plan for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co so far this season, having lost five of their eight league fixtures so far, including their last three in a row, to see them in the lower reaches of the table, level on points with 18th-placed Everton.
Redmond went from strength to strength following Hasenhuttl’s arrival, weighing in with nine goals and six assists in all competitions last term, while Djenepo has impressed since his summer arrival from Standard Liege.
However, the former has had a somewhat slow start to the campaign, with just one Premier League goal to his name – though he also has another goal and one assist to his name from the League Cup – while Djenepo is recovering from a muscle injury.

“There’s a lot of talent in the squad so hopefully we can get the best out of all of them,” Le Tissier is quoted by the Daily Echo as saying. “Nathan Redmond last season was pretty important for us. He gives us that pace, that edge and that directness to our play that causes people problems.
“Moussa Djenepo has also been a big plus – he got two fantastic goals away from home (against Brighton and Sheffield United) which have really turned the games in our favour and got us six points. It’s a shame he’s injured but it will be good to see him have a run in the side when he’s back.”
Southampton are next in Premier League action this weekend with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
