The Saints are in the lower reaches of the Premier League table – it’s not quite been happening for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co so far.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has admitted that the “biggest disappointment” from his perspective is seeing the Saints languishing in the lower reaches of the Premier League table as he issued a brutal verdict on their performances so far this term (Sporting Life).
The St Mary’s side struggled in the first half of last season but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s arrival in December saw an upturn in form and there was much optimism going into the 2019-20 campaign.
Unfortunately, it’s been another difficult start to the season for Southampton as they sit 17th in the standings, level on points with 18th-placed Everton, having lost five of their eight league fixtures so far, including their last three in a row.
Admittedly, the Saints have had some hard fixtures early on, including against Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, but there have also been defeats to Burnley and Bournemouth.

“The biggest disappointment from my perspective is seeing Southampton in 17th,” Le Tissier is quoted by Sporting Life as saying.
“I think the manner of the performance against Bournemouth was poor. You cannot have complaints – we are where we should be. You could maybe point to the Liverpool game, where Danny Ings could have nicked a point, but in reality, you could not expect too many more points in the bag due to the performance levels.”
Southampton are next in Premier League action this weekend with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
