Newcastle United are yet to pick up a win at St James’ Park this season after their goalless draw against Brighton on Saturday.

Matt Le Tissier has expressed his surprise on Twitter that Newcastle United had less possession against Brighton than Watford did during their 8-0 thrashing of Manchester City on Saturday.

Steve Bruce’s side recorded a goalless draw against the Seagulls during the evening game, whilst earlier on in the day, Man City put eight past helpless Watford, who were five down inside 20 minutes.

Despite that abject performance from Watford, they had 31% possession during their game, whilst Newcastle only managed 29% against a Brighton team they are hoping to finish above this season.

Nonetheless, Le Tissier sent this alarming message from his Twitter account after Newcastle’s draw against Brighton at St James’ Park.

Stats such as the one above are not going to help Steve Bruce’s cause because supporters would have already been critical of his appointment.

Added with that, whilst sometimes stats don’t tell the whole story, in this case, it does and Brighton should have gone on and secured all three points against the Magpies.

Instead, Bruce’s side shared the spoils with Graham Potter’s men, with Newcastle still searching for their first home win of the new Premier League season.

It doesn’t get any easier for Newcastle because next Sunday they travel to the King Power Stadium to take on high-flying Leicester City.
