Matt Le Tissier has warned Liverpool that they will be ‘kicking themselves’ if they ‘throw away’ the Premier League title from their current position following Manchester City’s defeat to Norwich.

Pep Guardiola’s City side suffered a damaging 3-2 defeat at Carrow Road on Saturday evening – only hours before, Liverpool had come from behind to beat Newcastle United.

For the first time since January, Man City were beaten in the league and it is a result that will no doubt please the red half of Merseyside because it means they have now opened up a five-point lead on their nearest rivals.

After the game, former Southampton forward, Le Tissier sent this Twitter message about Liverpool potentially throwing away their chance of winning the title.

Man City’s defensive performance will be a big worry for Guardiola and their supporters, especially considering who is missing from their backline.

The club didn’t really replace Vincent Kompany in the summer, whilst Aymeric Laporte, who is regarded as their best defender, is set to be out for a long period of time.

It remains to be seen what impact that has on City because Liverpool will be licking their lips at the prospect that their title rivals slipping up.

A lot can still happen in these coming months because along with Premier League football, the EFL Cup and European Cup games will also kick in, which could also have an impact on league results.
