Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld has been linked with an exit from the club this summer.

Former professional footballer Matt le Tissier looks on during day fifteen of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace on December 30, 2013 in London, England.

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier raved about the quality of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, when writing a column for Sky Sports, suggesting that the Belgian is on different level to his teammate Davinson Sanchez.

The 29-year-old has had real trouble with injuries this season, and has made only 10 Premier League starts, although Spurs seem to be a far stronger outfit when he is playing.

In Alderweireld’s absence, Sanchez has performed admirably, but he has undoubtedly showed his inexperience on more than one occasion.

Le Tissier suggested it would be a big blow for Tottenham if they lost the Belgium international in the summer, when writing a column for Sky Sports, claiming that he is on a different level to his teammate:

“Toby Alderweireld is on a different level to Davinson Sanchez. I think it would be a big blow if Tottenham fail to keep hold of Toby.”

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are leading the race to sign Alderweireld in the summer, with the defender refusing to commit his future to Spurs.

The 29-year-old has a buy-out clause worth £25 million inserted into his contract – one that will be activated in the summer of 2019, so Tottenham might just be tempted to cash in on the centre-back at the end of this season.
