Matt Le Tissier wants Liverpool’s Mo Salah to win PFA Player of the Year this season.
Matt Le Tissier has suggested on Twitter that his backing of Mo Salah to win the PFA Player of the Year award is evidence that he does not have an anti-Liverpool bias.
The Southampton legend is often accused of disliking the Anfield club, who it’s fair to say have had strained relations with the Saints after last summer’s transfer saga involving Virgil van Dijk.
The Sky Sports pundit rebuffed suggestions that he ‘hated’ Liverpool on Twitter last month and his latest move might reinforce that.
Le Tissier claimed on Sky Sports that the Egypt international deserves to win the Player of the Year award this season, having hit 24 goals in 26 Premier League games for the Reds since his £36 million summer move.
He said: “This is a three-way chase for me, with Kane, Salah and De Bruyne in contention. I love the way De Bruyne has played this season but I’m edging towards Salah.
“I say that because scoring all of those goals from a wide position is quite phenomenal. There’s not many who can score that volume of goals without playing centre-forward.
“I’d probably go De Bruyne second and Kane third, with David De Gea unfortunate not be considered as he’s been invaluable for Manchester United, although it isn’t easy for a goalkeeper to win it.”
And the Premier League legend has since poked fun at the perception that he does not like Liverpool, if his latest tweet is anything to go by.
