Southampton got the better of Brighton 1-0 away from home at the American Express Community Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute, as the Saints enhanced their chances of avoiding relegation from the Championship at the end of the season.
Southampton legend Le Tissier has taken to Twitter to revel in the win, and he has also responded to a Brighton fan who admitted that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were the better team on the day.
The win against Brighton means that Southampton are now 16th in the Premier League table, as many as five points clear of the bottom three.
The Saints will return to action next Friday evening when they take on Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.
Southampton fans will be confident of the team avoiding the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
