Andre Gomes shone as Everton picked up an extremely impressive win at Goodison Park.

Matt Le Tissier told Soccer Saturday (broadcast on Sky Sports; 03/11 from 17:00) that he was very impressed by Andre Gomes in Everton’s 3-1 win over Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Gomes was making just his third start since arriving on loan from Barcelona in the summer. But he appears to certainly be finding his feet on Merseyside as he played a key role in the victory.

Two goals from Richarlison and one from Seamus Coleman helped the Toffees bag the three points that moved them four clear of Chris Hughton’s side in the table.

And Le Tissier admitted after the game that he thought that the Portuguese did very well in the middle of the park and has the attributes to prove to be a crucial player for Marco Silva’s side over the coming months.

“Very good in the centre of midfield there,” he said on Soccer Saturday when asked how Gomes got on.

“He looks very comfortable and gives Everton something a little bit different in that role there where he’s always looking to find forward passes in between the lines so I thought he did pretty well.”

Gomes’ early performances hint that he could prove to be a fantastic addition with his ability to provide the defence with support while also making an impact going forward. He appears to be the perfect player to provide balance to the team and link the whole side.

And having won four of their last five league games, it seems to all be clicking for Silva’s men right now, and the teams immediately above them should be a little concerned.
