Former Southampton stars reacts to Liverpool interest in Xherdan Shaqiri.

Liverpool are showing interest in Stoke City midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, report The Guardian.
Shaqiri has a release clause of £12.5 million after Stoke’s relegation and would jump at the chance to sign for Liverpool.
Their interest is a blow for Southampton, who had hoped manager Mark Hughes may be able to tempt him to join the Saints after bringing him to Stoke, The Mirror reported.

Liverpool have raided Southampton for players in recent seasons, even earlier this year with Virgil Van Dijk.
Saints legend and fan Matt Le Tissier tried to see the funny side of Liverpool potentially damaging his side’s prospects once again.
You have to sympathise with Southampton as they need Shaqiri far more than Liverpool do.
At Anfield the Swiss international would be at risk of being just a back-up, a role he struggled with at Bayern Munich.
But after battling relegation with Stoke unsuccessfully, it would be tough for the midfielder to choose the side which narrowly staved off the drop, instead of joining this season’s Champions League finalists.
