Moussa Sissoko joined Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier praised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Football last Saturday afternoon (1:41pm, March 9, 2019).

The former England international has been impressed with how Sissoko has been playing for Spurs this season.

Le Tissier has also admitted his surprise that Tottenham signed him from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £30 million.

Le Tissier said about Sissoko on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Football last Saturday afternoon (1:41pm, March 9, 2019): “That was a heck of a dip in form. We saw him in that Newcastle team when he was a powerful, strong runner from midfield, causing havoc in defences, but he had a real lull in form, and it was a surprise to me that Spurs spent £30 million on him when it did happen.

“It has been a real struggle for him. That’s a team where it was always going to difficult for him to try and break into on a regular basis.

“He has probably had to rely a little bit, first of all, on getting into the side because of injuries, but when he has got in there, this season he has been incredible.

“The turnaround in form is just amazing. You have to give credit to the player, but then you also have to give credit to the manager.”

Sissoko has been lucky to get playing time due to injury to fellow midfielders, but the former Newcastle star should be praised for the way he has made the most of his chances.

The France international midfielder has made 22 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has given his take on the performances of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this season.

Lloris is a very good goalkeeper, but the Frenchman has made mistakes from time to time this season.
