The former forward has picked a combined XI before Manchester United take on Arsenal on Saturday.
Manchester United’s David De Gea
Speaking to Sky Sports, Matt Le Tissier has picked a combined Manchester United and Arsenal XI ahead of this weekend’s clash between the two sides.
The two sides meet at Old Trafford in Saturday’s early kick-off looking to secure all three points and give their title hopes a boost.
Arsenal are currently fourth in the table, two points behind league leaders Liverpool while United are sixth and eight points behind.
Both teams are full of talent so picking a combined XI of the two teams does not make for easy choices. Nonetheless, Le Tissier has named his team for Sky Sports.
In goal he goes with David de Gea, ahead of the experience of Petr Cech, saying the Spaniard has “youth on his side and three great seasons behind him.”
In the full back positions, he goes with Arsenal duo Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal, although he does concede Luke Shaw would be in if he was playing consistently.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba celebrates with Michael Carrick
At centre back, Laurent Koscielny partners Eric Bailly, who Le Tissier believes will be “a very good signing for them [United] in the long term.”
Le Tissier elects to partner Paul Pogba alongside Santi Cazorla in the centre of his midfield, despite the Frenchman’s difficulties playing in the position so far.
Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil celebrates scoring
Ahead of those two is an attacking midfield trio of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata, with him saying “it would be very difficult to leave him out of any team” when it comes to the German star.
Up front, there are no surprises as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the former forward’s chosen striker in this combined team.
