The Eagles fanbase is on cloud nine at present with the Selhurst Park side sixth in the Premier League table.
Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has admitted that Crystal Palace are the team that has “surprised me the most” so far in the Premier League this season, praising the Eagles boss Roy Hodgson for the “cracking job” he has done so far in 2019-20 (Sporting Life).
The Selhurst Park side has begun this season very well, sitting sixth in the table and just two points off second place – this despite a very modest transfer budget, even though Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United for £50million this summer.
Much of the credit is rightfully going to Hodgson, who took the reins two years ago with Palace bottom of the table and without a single league goal to their name, and subsequently steered the Eagles to 11th and 12th-placed finishes, while also beating five of the league’s ‘big six’ and winning at the Etihad, the Emirates and Old Trafford.
“I think Crystal Palace have surprised me the most,” Le Tissier is quoted by Sporting Life as saying when asked about which team has stood out for him thus far.
“They are sat in sixth place when they would have expected them to be in the bottom six, considering the lack of goals they have in their side. Roy Hodgson is doing a cracking job at the moment.”
